Test Blog Post

Like many people, I am a huge fan of animals. I have two Siberian Huskies, my own little wolf pack. There has been surge in the popularity of huskies in recent years with many people falling for their distinctive beauty. However, as many of us know, committing to a family pet is not something that can be lightly considered. Making an informed choice when looking to give a pet a new home is vital.

Many people get taken in by the Siberian Husky and their ability to sing (howl), their wolf like appearance, their stunning yet unsettling eyes or even a viral video of them “talking” is enough to make someone take the leap without taking into consideration factors such as the husky’s general personality traits, temperament or how this dog could fit into their family and lifestyle. Their striking looks and the viral videos are enough to convince people to get a Husky of their own. Since much consideration is not taken when choosing a pet, it is distressing to see these dogs being surrendered and in need of rehoming through no fault of their own.

As someone who has two huskies of her own and is passionate about caring for dogs, it makes me wonder why a large number of people continue to “shop” rather than “adopt”. Many arguments can be made for and against both options. I intend to look into some of the reasons why adopting Huskies is the more responsible and rewarding choice. I want to look into the work of a popular animal charity, Husky Rescue Ireland, what they do and some of the benefits of adopting dogs from them. Of course, an argument can be made against adoption, so I will also look into why somebody would consider “shopping” and buying from a breeder.
